Editing time is the part of a photography quote clients most underestimate, and the part you're most likely to undercharge for if you don't list it separately. Culling, colour grading, and retouching 300+ images from a full-day shoot is real, billable time. Showing it as its own line makes clear the quote isn't "a day with a camera." It's a full deliverable pipeline.

Usage and copyright terms belong in the quote stage, before the contract stage. A couple assuming they own every RAW file, or a business assuming unlimited ad usage from a single day's shoot, is a conversation you want to have before the deposit, not after delivery. A one-line note on what's included, such as "edited JPEGs for personal and social use; commercial licensing quoted separately," heads off the most common photography dispute.

Deposits do more than secure your date. They filter out clients who aren't serious before you've blocked out a Saturday for them. 25-50% is standard for wedding work. State the percentage and what happens on cancellation in the quote notes, not merely in a separate contract, so the client sees the commitment they're making at the moment they decide to book.

Turnaround time for the edited gallery deserves its own line, not a vague "soon." Four weeks is a common window for a full wedding shoot. Stating it in the quote sets an expectation you control. Otherwise a client assumes delivery next week, then chases you for updates while you're still mid-edit on someone else's wedding from the weekend before.
